If it can be done then suggest me how can we take the OS backup as for us there is a time to take a OS backup.

Re: OS backup for linux

hi,

check this products :

1. Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery http://www.symantec.com/business/backup-exec-system-recovery-server-edition
2. Acronis Backup & Recovery http://www.acronis.com/backup-recovery/advanced-server/
3. Paragon Drive Backup Server Edition http://www.paragon-software.com/business/db-server/

i think the acronis SW is very well.

Re: OS backup for linux

I usually make a backup of the O.S. partitions using http://clonezilla.org/
Works fine for HP servers running redhat.
(I'm not 100% sure if it supports LVM cause I never use that)

Re: OS backup for linux

HI,

The best utility i have ever experienced with Linux OS backup is mondorescue.

I have taken the server backup and restored in an another server perfectly without any issue.Only thing is that the hardware should be similar otherwise restoration needs some manual interfere.

Please go through the below url.

Re: OS backup for linux

Hi

You can thgink of using the BMR (bare metal restore) from Symantec Netbackup. But this will require some investment in hardware.
Also works on similar hardware.

Thanks

I also use mondorescue that I have tweaked a little.

Works great.
