Re: problem mount cifs

We finally discovered the issue between HPUX cifsclient and the new Windows 2008 share. The problem is not a problem with Win2008 Server but rather with clustering on Win2008 Server. When you set up a virtual share on Win2008 Server the share can no longer be found using the server's IP address. So for example if the virtual node contains a share that can be seen by another Windows OS such as \\servername\share, the same share can not be seen by using the IP in the UNC path such as \\192.168.x.x\share. This was possible in Win2003 Cluster Server but, no longer possible in Win2008 Cluster Server. Unfortunately, the CIFS Client software on HP-UX uses the Netbios, Wins, DNS to translate the server name to the IP address in order to then mount the share which is no longer possible in Win2008 Cluster Server.

Re: problem mount cifs

Unfortunately, we gave up and moved the share to a non-clustered Win2008 server.

Re: problem mount cifs

Michael, good news.
Today we migrated our windows cluster to 2008 and faced the same problem.
On our system it was solved by MS patch KB975512.

Hope this will help to you and anybody else.
