Thanks Dirk,
I use RHEL 5 and it looks like in order to setup my YUM repo to use RHN , i need to connect to RHN and that required paid subscription . So as you suggested i should go for CentOS . Did a licensed RHEL gives user free subscription to RHN for lifetime (probably not !!!) ?
So as i understand from everybody's replies is s/w management is efficiently managed using RHN in RHEL .

one final thing before i close this issue

I use RHEL 5 . So there no way without paid subscription for RHN i can setup some yum repo .
As suggested , this means to learn linux it is better to go with CentOS / Fedora etc linux flavors for which it is easier to set repository.

Please send me some good link of setting up CentOS repo.

yeah the only way for you CentOS
in fact I think CentOS is much better than Fedora

for setting up a Repo
