RAID volume disappears, Reboot required
We are having a strange problem with our DL585, Smart Array 6404/512 and an MSA30. For no apparent reason the volume associated with the RAID becomes unaccessible. There are no real patterns that appear before this occurs and no error messages logged anywhere. The mount mount is there but any attempt to access just hangs. Rebooting makes the problem go away for a while but it eventually re-appears.
The OS is Ubuntu 6.10 and we have 4 AMD CPUs installed as well. Other RAID volumes (Apple Xserve RAID) and ht main internal disk are all accessible when this failure happens so it does seem related to the Smart Array/MSA30 directly.
We do not currently have any of the HP tools installed to check FW versions etc but I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this problem.

Re: RAID volume disappears, Reboot required
Shalom,
1) Check the logs for clues. There must be something.
2) Pull the system down and do full hardware diagnosis.

Re: RAID volume disappears, Reboot required
You would think there would be something in some log file but we have looked at every log file on the system and have been unable to find anything at all.

Re: RAID volume disappears, Reboot required
There are some RAID diagnostics utilities which you can.But Linux does not support running it online.I am not sure if you can download the linux tools.
