Well, /etc/defaultrouter will not ever get restored on an HP-UX system. That file is not used in HP-UX. You do NOT configure a default route with that file. As far as I know that file is a Solaris only thing.

1) Your more than welcome - Lord knows you've earned the respect
2) That'll teach me to read the man pages in greater deapth 8~()
3) I'm like you - I've never had to learn the lesson - the hard way......that I so erroneously pointed out. And YES I *always* use -I - I'm just anal that way, I guess. Anything about recovery scares me to death about screwing it up. In today's employment market you really shouldn't be giving mgmnt any reasons...
4) An finally OUCH - those poor Sun SAs don't realize the wasp's nest they stray into here, huh?
