Samlog File on HP-UX 11.31

Fellow SAs:

Has the location of /var/adm/sam/samlog moved somewhere else?

I remember in HP-UX 11i, I could run a command in "SAM" GUI and then, pick up the syntax of the executed command by viewing the /var/adm/sam/samlog file.

Now, I tried running a command in SMH homepage on a 11.31 Server.  Although there is a samviewer for log files, I dont see anything recorded in that contents of the samviewer log - in the GUI. On the server I am unable to find /var/adm/sam/samlog either.

Does, SMH record the commands that are executed from the GUI interface somewhere on the server? Do we have to enable any particular service to achieve this? Any input would be very much appreciated.

Warm Regards,

KGD.

On my HP-UX 11.31 server there's a log at /var/sam/log/samlog.

# tail /var/sam/log/samlog

I'm not even sure it does this anymore.

But checking shows some info there but nothing that looks like any commands being logged.

Probably because SMH isn't used.

You can preview the command that will be run:

Re: samlog file on HP-UX 11.31

Gentlemen:

Thanks a billion for writing back to me. I guess I had the path wrong.

( I however, am unable to see the actual samlog file under /var/sam/log directory. I only see a samlog.old file that was created 2 years ago. I probably have to investigate why samlog has not been capturing any data.) I will take it from here.

I appreciate the screenshot related to the preview also.

Thanks again.
