SMH takes an hour to load accounts

When I use SMH (text interface, and select 'Accounts for Users and Groups', and then 'Local Users', it takes about an hour for the screen of users to come up. There is less than 300 accounts on this system. Using HP-UX B11.31
any ideas?

I would suspect this is a bug.

You may want to do a general QPK patch to bring the system up to spec or do a patch search for smh on http://itrc.hp.com to find patches that deal with this specific issue.

Any particular changes you plan to make? You could just use vipw(1m) to edit /etc/passwd.

the patch link sent me into a quagmire of more links... Our system here requires a bunch of accounts created/deleted every week. The adduser/deluser commands aren't quite granular enough. Is there any way to force the old SAM app?

usernames, departments, etc. Its an operator that will be doing the account management, so giving them something interactive is ideal.

i've narrowed down the problem to be with the file /usr/sam/tui/ug/apps/usr/listUsers. This is the file that appears in Top to be taking 100% CPU while smh is sitting there waiting to list the accounts. I ran this directly from the command line on one of our hp-ux 11.31 systems and it listed all the accounts instantly. When i tried from my problem system, there is a 5-10 second delay between each account listed.

There were some issues with earlier versions of ugweb around "listing user performance", especially if you have a big /var/adm/wtmp file...

what's the output of:

swlist -l product UsersAndGroups

I think you need to be on at least B.11.31.0809.01 to have the fix... latest version available here:
