Hi Experts,
I have some doubt on STM and CSTM in HPUNIX. We have 11.00 HPUX Box, already
CSTM A.26.00 is running on this machine, We are planing to install the STM A.44.00.
1.What is the difference between STM and CSTM
2.It is affect the CSTM A.26.00 or before installing STM STM A.44.00 what are the saftey predication we have to take.
3.Reboot is required for installing STM A.44.00
Thanks in Advance

Re: STM and CSTM in HPUNIX 11.00
*c* STM is just another interface to STM (XSTM/MSTM/CSTM).
Version 44.00 is for 11.11, isn't it?
So you cannot install on 11.00.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: STM and CSTM in HPUNIX 11.00
Hi,
1) cstm is one of the 3 interfaces for the STM application.
cstm = command
mstm = menu
xstm = xwindow
2) Read the Installation, Release Notes and DIAGNOSTIC.readme file for 11.00 required patches:
http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/stm/stm_upd.htm
http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/stm/str_0403_11.htm
http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/ems/emr_0403_11.htm
http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/st/str_0403.htm
3) From the installation page:
...
"NOTE: A system reboot is not required after installing the Diagnostic and Support Tools for HP-UX 11.0 and later versions of HP-UX. "
...
Make sure you update both STM and EMS products as they have to work together at the same packaged revisions for the release you are installing.
Depending upon your installed applications you may have to update those listed in the readme files to meet minimum requirements and to avoid application issues noted.
