SUSE 11.2 server

Dear All,

I have downloaded SUSE 11.2 server version (openSUSE-11.2-DVD-i586) from net and it seems to be a 60 days evaluation version but it did not ask me for any validation so far since I installed. Does it really need any activation? Please confirm.

Re: SUSE 11.2 server

Hi,

The ISO I used is "SLES-11-SP1-DVD-x86_64-GM-DVD2" which downloaded from internet. Not the above mentioned. Excuse me.

Re: SUSE 11.2 server

Since you can legally download the SLES 11 installation DVD images for free, you're not really paying for the OS.

What you're paying for is timely access to patches and updates, and other support services. If you don't buy an activation code, your access to SLES update servers over the Internet stops when the evaluation license code expires. The evaluation code is typically good for one registration only: you cannot re-use it to get another 60 days of patch access.

You might want to try openSUSE instead of the commercial Novell SUSE version -- all the same great stuff, but you won't have to pay for the patches...
