System Fault Manager and WBEM - 11iv3 host
I have an 11iv3 host where I want to stop/shutodown CIMSERVER processes along with SFM (database/postgres) processes.
I ran CIMSERVER -S to kill CIMSERVER processes. I have not tried to stop/kill SFM/Postgres processes yet.
(this host ia a HP VM host and I want to stop all CIM related processes at this time. All my HPUX hosts are SIM managed nodes. My System Insight manager server is a Windows one).
Since I have stopped CIMSERVER on this 11iv3 host, I get this alert now
Dec 22 09:15:30 bmxpr10 syslog: icapd: ERROR: The following low-level error occurred:ERROR: The following low-level WBEM error occurred: PGS08000: CIM HTTP OR HTTPS CONNECTOR CANNOT CONNECT TO LOCAL CIM SERVER. CONNECTION FAILED.

Shalom,
You have effectively disabled CIM, regardless of leaving the postgres processes alone.
Your need to either restart the CIMSERVER process or disable alerts on your Windows monitor system.

Yes, I intentionally stopped CIMSERVER (processes). The alert from the HPUX host is is reported by ICAP. Its attempting to report and connect through CIMSERVER obviously.

Yeah Tom, I get it.
You have a circular situation. icap expects CIMSERVER to be up, and is reporting that it can't report to CIMSERVER.
I think you either fire up CIMSERVER or live with the error message.
