Hello All,
We would like to have an application on Linux that would allow us to mimic a slow network wan link, being able to reduce the network speed (throttle it down), and adjust the latency.
Do you have any suggestions as to what applications we could try out? We herd of vyatta but i'm having a hard time trying to figure out where to go to do the throttling, which brings me here, what do you guys use for this type of work?
thanks!

Re: Throttle network bandwidth - latency - linux
You can try the netem kernel module. I've never used it, but have read about it here:
http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/Net:Netem
If you need this functionality badly enough, it may be worth investing in a hardware-based emulator. I've used the 10G unit from Apposite briefly, and the amount of control is amazing.

Re: Throttle network bandwidth - latency - linux
Hi
i am looking for a HP-UX version of the netem tool (or the tc binary rather). If there is any other alternative tool available, can you please let me know the same?
thanks,
Satya
