wha tis procedure to migrate cell on ia64 hp superdome server SD64A

Hello HPUX GURUS!!!

 

we are planning to migrate the  cell 0 from cab1 to cab0 . it has two npar in superdome. As it us a core cell, i am little worry whether this possible or not.. if possible can someone please let me know the procedure.

From the output I see that already have a cell in cabinet 0, slot 0.  Did you mean you wanted to move the cell in cabinet 1, slot 0 to Partition 0 (as a resource)?

 

Given that, it is possible to move cells from one partition to another.  However, the affect this has on the source partition is what you need to be concerned about.

 

A "core cell" is simply a cell that has an attached IO Chassis and Core IO board and then has been designated as a core cell by the partition.  If you physically remove that cell, then you are disconnecting the attached IO Chassis.  If your partition is configured to handle the removal of that IO then you will be fine.  The Partition will use the next available cell that is attached to an IO Chassis and Core IO board and designate that as its core cell.   In your case this would be cab1/cell6.  If you did not have this, then you would not be able to perform this move.

parstatus -AC

parmodify -p 1 -d 1/0

parstatus

parmodify -p 0 -a 1/0:::

parstatus
