Re: window nt 2000

Since the problem happens before the OS has a chance to load, this is not an issue with Linux; the problem must be with the hardware or maybe with BIOS settings.

What is your server model?

Is your CDROM drive internal or external?

If it's external, how is it connected?

If an external CDROM drive is connected using USB, you must choose to boot from USB. The "CDROM" boot option usually covers internal and SCSI-attached external CDROM drives only.

Some external USB CDROM drives are too slow to start up, so that the boot sequence gives up before the CDROM drive is ready to access the disk. Only a firmware upgrade to the CDROM might help in this case; if such is not available, your only hope is to try a different model CDROM drive.
