Windows LPD Server - Error: specified printer does not exist

Lpstat output showing as per below;

# lpstat

printer queue for {print_queue_name}

Windows LPD Server
Error: specified printer does not exist

{hostname}: waiting for queue to be enabled on {print_server_fqdn}
#

I've tried to remove and add back print queue, but no luck. Error still persist.

Please assist. Thanks.

Re: Windows LPD Server - Error: specified printer does not exist

Hi,

try this,
#cancel printer_name
#enable printer_name

if this doesn't solves try to add the queue.

Re: Windows LPD Server - Error: specified printer does not exist

I have tried to disable/enable couple of times but no luck.. I can see that there is this printer name in the Windows print server. But it is not communicating from Unix server to the Windows print server.. I'm able to ping but it's not connecting..

Re: Windows LPD Server - Error: specified printer does not exist

This is a windows problem, so nothing you can do on the HP-UX side will fix it. Windows will not share its printers with Unix systems until you enable the lpd service on the windows side. Note also that the UPPERCASElowercase remote printer name used on the HP-UX side may not match the windows' printer name, which is what the error message seems to indicate.
