By Vivian Clark, Director of Product Marketing, HPE GreenLake

discover-gl-platform-enhancements-main.pngHPE GreenLake cloud simplifies hybrid cloud for organizations by providing a single cloud operating experience delivered through a platform that is hybrid by design. It is AIOps-driven, API-first, and expansible, delivering a unified experience to multiple teams, including ITOps, DevOps, FinOps, and GreenOps. Our cloud platform provides many foundational services underpinning cloud services with a single control plane, enabling  IT agility, operational simplicity, and security and control for customerโ€™s hybrid cloud needs in this AI era.

More than 34,000 enterprise organizations globally trusted HPE GreenLake for their hybrid cloud needs. In May, HPE was recognized as a leader in the IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Multi-cloud Management with Automation 2024 Vendor Assessment(Doc # US52084624).

You can count on HPE as your innovation partner to deliver the hybrid cloud experience you need to support your most demanding, secure, mission-critical workloads. This week at HPE Discove 2024r, we have introduced multiple platform enhancements and capabilities that will further simplify your hybrid cloud operations. In this blog, we will showcase our platform innovations:

  1. Enhancements for managed service providers (MSPs) โ€“ MSPs can now address a larger market, and with lower operational cost
  2. HPE Sustainability Insight Center โ€“ adding numerous new features and capabilities to provide IT energy and emission visibility in hybrid environments
  3. HPE GreenLake cloud to address requirements in regulated environments โ€“ A cloud experience on-premises for secure-conscious and highly regulated industries
  4. Expanded consumption analytics โ€“ making hybrid cloud cost reporting and capacity planning easier and more complete for all the services on the platform
  5. Expanded API coverage โ€“ enabling end-to-end use cases and integrations for customers and MSP partners
  6. An IT wellness dashboard and a support hub โ€“ providing an AIOps capability to detect warning signs and generate wellness events for HPE compute and storage infrastructure, and proactively open a case with HPE Support, offering valuable recommendations that minimize downtime for customers
  7. GenAI based platform search โ€“ GPT4-based platform search to allow users to ask questions and get instant answers. With just one click, you can effortlessly find what you need and complete tasks โ€“ all right from the immersive search feature on HPE GreenLake cloud.

Letโ€™s take a deeper dive into each of these new announcements.

1. HPE GreenLake managed service provider (MSP) workspaces now support OpsRamp, HPE GreenLake for Computer Ops Management, and HPE Aruba Networking User Experience Insight, enabling MSPs to manage hybrid observability, compute, and monitoring as well as networking for their customers. MSPs can now manage customers who own their own devices and subscriptions, opening up a vast new market. MSPs can now also assign their employees to specific customer tenants, and later this year will be able to use a single API credential across all their customer tenants. These enhancements will streamline automated management and improve privacy and security.  Key features include:

  • MSP management of Compute Ops Management, HPE Aruba Networking User Experience Insight, and OpsRamp
  • MSP workspaces can support customers who own their own devices and subscriptions
  • A single API credential for MSP workspaces across all customer tenants
  • Ability to assign MSP employees to one or more specific customer tenants rather than all, reducing access to only whatโ€™s needed for their job

Why is this significant for MSPs?

The benefits to MSPs will be substantial:

  • Expand your TAM by now managing customersโ€™ compute, network monitoring, and hybrid observability, and by taking โ€œManage Onlyโ€ customers who own their own infrastructure
  • Lower your risk with a least-privilege approach to employee access
  • Faster and simpler API integrations for automating your processes and integrating with your tools

2. HPE Sustainability Insight Center helps our customers achieve a new level of visibility and sustainability management with our latest release. The HPE Sustainability Insight Center is a service on cloud. Using foundational services from HPE GreenLake for hybrid cloud operations and automation, HPE Sustainability Insight Center expands its supported ecosystem to now include support for:

  • Hybrid IT through the on-premises heterogeneous IT visibility for improved control and informed decision-making to help achieve sustainable IT goals
  • Ability to monitor heterogeneous on-premises IT environments by enabling custom report uploads from other tools
  • Enablement of customer-specific power costs and carbon emission coefficient providing improved accuracy
  •  Aggregated view of telemetry/data sources to provide energy and carbon emissions reporting through a unified dashboard
  • Ease of operations through support for hostnames for ease of integration and management of devices, localization settings, and language preferences

HPE Sustainability Insight Center helps customers measure their carbon footprint, allowing them to demonstrate reduced emissions over time. This is achieved through:

  • Assisting customers to take informed action to reduce their climate impact and optimize their server utilization
  • Determining when, where, and how they can best operate their IT assets against sustainability goals
  • Achieve regulatory and business requirements focused on sustainable IT

3. HPE GreenLake addresses the needs of highly secure and regulated environments by providing a cloud equivalent experience on-premises.

HPE has developed solutions to meet the needs of highly security-conscious customers. They may have data residency and sovereignty requirements and are prohibited from connecting to the public internet or external network. HPE GreenLake offers a fully disconnected/isolated private cloud management platform, allowing customers to consume HPE services such as private cloud and storage based on a cloud operating model.

HPE extends the modern hybrid cloud experience, through a dedicated management platform, to secure disconnected environments. This dedicated management platform for regulated environments rapidly extends a modern cloud experience to isolated, on-premises environments without exposing mission-critical and sensitive data to the public internet. It makes modern cloud a reality for highly secure-conscious customers, delivering agility and performance while allowing them to maintain security and control that meets organizationsโ€™ security and regulatory requirements.

Here are key attributes of the solution:

  • Built on trusted, field-proven HPE hardware and engineered with security and hardening standards and a local control plane to safeguard your sensitive data, meeting your security and regulatory requirements such as data sovereignty
  • Automated, self-service provisioning with Identity Access Management guardrails empowers secure multi-agency and multi-user speed and agility
  • Maximize application security and performance while disconnected from public internet or with limited bandwidth and unreliable networks
  • Delivered as a managed service by HPE-certified experts, it minimizes risk and improves operational efficiency, freeing up your teams for innovation

How do our customers with a dedicated management platform benefit from the solution?

  • Organizations can have a secure, compliant, flexible private cloud solution, while making sure sovereignty requirements are met for both data security and operations.
  • Companies can store and process their data within the defined geography, under their specific laws, to protect data from access by outside entities and governments.
  • Businesses gain enhanced data privacy, security, compliance with regulations. It is particularly important for government agencies, public sector organizations, and businesses that handle sensitive data.

A proof point to HPEโ€™s commitment to providing excellent solutions and support to meet our customers' regulated environment IT needs is the recent DISA win: Defense Information Systems Agency selects HPE GreenLake for the Distributed Hybrid, Multi-Cloud prototype to bring unified cloud experience to data centers
