Duplicate backing device error while adding a disk path

Dear All,

We are having VM of version A.02.00.02 in rx6600 model with HPUX11v2 OS model . We have already been configured HDLM for some of the disk on the host machine, rest of the disks having multi hardware paths [2 paths] on the host machine. All the luns have assigned to VM guests. We would like to know if my one HBA card is gone down whether this will impact the luns assigned to guest machine which is not having HDLM.

we have tried to add the alternate path of disks which not configured in HDLM to VM guest but that was end up in subject line error message.

Re: Duplicate backing device error while adding a disk path

As far as I know, HPVM only supports one path to a given disk, so unless you use some multipathing tool and then present that disk an HBA failure is likely to take down your VM.

In 11iv3, the preferred method is to use agile DSFs to present disks to HPVM and then you get the full benefit of multipathing at the host kernel level.
