Shutting down a vpar

Hi

Does shutting down a Vpar save resource, money, power, etc?

Re: Shutting down a vpar

Shutting down a vPar allows any resources assigned to the vPar to be used by other vPars or VMs on the system.  If those resources are not re-used then you could potentially see the power and cooling profile of the physical server change accordingly, which could reduce the overall cost of running the physical server.  This is akin to shutting down unneeded physical servers - the power and cooling of the datacenter gets less expensive as more servers are powered off and those server resources can be repurposed for other needs.
