Re: Login by telnet or SSH - JE006A/2928 SFP Plus

Hi,

your question is very "open".  You might want to narrow it down.

First:

When i look up JE006A it says "HP 1910-24G Switch" (not 2928, which is the old 3com model number i think.)

For a primer you can read

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02965327/c02965327.pdf

Anyways. To log in via telnet/ssh (from now on just ssh), you need

1: To enable the ssh server. ("Managing services" page 294 in the above)

2: Have a ssh client (putty for windows, openSSH for linux or similar) ( you need to install this on your PC)

3: Have a user authenticated -AAA (local, radius or tacacs). (e.g local  "Configuring users and user groups" page 391)

4: Have the user authorized to issue the commands you need to. (AAA page 333 - not neccesary for a local user it seems)

after you have created user "hpuser" and enabled ssh on the switch with ip address x.y.z.w you should be able to

$ ssh hpuser@x.y.z.w

Look into it.

Hope this helps.
