Need to configure HP 1820-8G Switch to stop packet loss and jittering

Hello.,

It has been determined that packet loss and jittering has caused several issues with our VOIP phones. I have purchased the HP 1820-8G Switch however, I can't find any instrcutions on hown to configure it to stop the packet loss and jittering.

Any recomendatiosn would be appreciated.

Packet loss should be addressed via design rather than product selection.

Your basic design should include separate VLANs for Voice and everything else, and telling the switch that the VLAN the phones are in is the Voice VLAN.

You will need to design your network at layer3 so that both subnets have routing including routing between them.

Normally, switches have enough backplane bandwidth to handle multiple gigabit speed copies operations between ports, and voip on other ports.
Where you might run into trouble, is when VOIP and data are combined on a port, like a link between switches , or phone and PC sharing the same cable
