Deploying Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition using RDP v2.2

Hi

Currently i trying to deploy Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition using RDP v2.2.

I encountered some problem deploying it.

Is the OS version supported yet?? If possible, any links where i can get more information on the deployment process?

Thanks.

Leonard:

RDP 2.2 fully supports Windows Server 2003 Web, Standard and Enterprise 32BIT editions.

64bit is not supported yet.

1st, which do you have? 32bit? or 64bit?

2nd, what type of server are you deploying to?

3rd, what are the issues you are having?

Many problems can stem from improper installation, mis-configuration, etc. Without knowing WHAT the problems you are experiencing are... we can't help too much.

Let us know!

Re: Deploying Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition using RDP v2.2

Hi Steven,

I forgotten to mentioned it's Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition R2. I've checked the support matrix but apparently R2 is not stated in the document.

Re: Deploying Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition using RDP v2.2

I've successfully deployed Windows Server 2003 R2 using RDP 2.2

The OS is simply a set of 2 CD's. The first CD is Windows Server 2003 base OS with Service Pack 1 integrated. The second CD contains a separate installable program that brings you to "R2". Though I have not deployed the "R2" CD, deploying the OS works exactly the same way since it is the same thing as the original release, with the exception of the Service Pack being integrated.

Now, if you can tell me/us what the problems are that you are experiencing, we might be able to pinpoint the issue and it might not be OS related at all.

Re: Deploying Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition using RDP v2.2

Hi Steven Clementi,

I can use the new W2003-R2 CD when we prepare the W2003 software and load it into RDP2.2 for deployment. The preparation step will work.

When we use this W2003-R2 package for to deploy into a brand new server, this deployment step will work fine too.

Problem 1 : When we reboot the brand new server (after RDP installation is completed), it will prompt for the user to put in the R2 CD to continue the installation.

Question 1 : How to prevent this prompting to install R2 CD message (this prompt gives the impression that the installation is not complete). We have to click on the "cancel" button.

Question 2 : How can we prepare the RDP2.2 to also package the R2 software so that we can use a RDP job to install the R2 component into the new server. Any written steps would be useful.

Question 3 : Is there a way to package R2 so that the whole installation of the 2 CDs is a seemless one-step process in RDP.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
