install 32-bit apps under WIN2003 64-bit

hi

Will be my WIN2003 SP2 64-bit server a little unstable if I install some 32-bit applications?

Not if the 32-bit apps aren't buggy.
Make a great day!

hi,

if your server run in production, i would check if the app is officially supported on the this OS version, if not i would not recommend to install it.

doesn't matter at all. if app is 32 bit it works in 32 bit mode.

Re: install 32-bit apps under WIN2003 64-bit

Hi Chris,

It depends on the 32-bit applications. Some of them may cause problems on a
64 bit systems. The behavior may vary from application to application.

Re: install 32-bit apps under WIN2003 64-bit

Hi Chris,

The 64bit version of Windows server 2003 makes use of WOW64 subsystem to run
32 bit programs. However looks like there is no support for 32 bit drivers.
Hence programs that rely on 32 bit drivers might not run on the 64 bit Windows
server 2003.
