Installation of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edt. on ProLiant ML370 G3 not possible !?!?

Hi there,

I have a big big problem:

After the initial setup with Smartstart cd (v7.20) and the copy of windows server on the partition by smartstart. the Os installation stops with the message "IDE CD-ROM (ATAPI 1.2)/PCI IDE-Controller"...the entry in unattented script file doesn't exist in the SCSI section of the inf file TXTSETUP.SIF"

What the hell is that ??? The installation of W2K3 on older (!) systems works without any problems !!! The BIOS-Version is (as far as I could see) P28.

Does anyone have an idea what I else could do ?

Thank you very much !
Best regards

Hubert

...a short question:

Could the problem (maybe) be solved by using the SmartStart-CD v7.30 ?

I think the problem is CD. Use other copy of SmartStart CD v. 7.10 - 7.30 or install from Windows CD.

We've installed Windows Server 2003 in a ML370 a few days ago. We used SmartStart 7.10 CD.
This CD is good for ML 300 Servers.

I say this because ours is a 4G, not a 3G as is your case. Based on HP, I don't think you should have any trouble in a 3G.

Go ahead with the SmartStart CD.
Go thru Setup + Operative System Selection.

Hy Hubert,

Why don´t you try to install de W2k3 Ent. directly.
Start the server with SmartStart use the ACU to make your raid configuration and after that reboot the server and install the OS.
At the end of the instalation of SO install the suport tools and other tools from the smartstart cd and the other cd from HP.

I know that this is not the recomended method, but i sure it works.
