Officeject 7310 with Windows Server 2003 Web Edition?

I just got an Officeject 7310xi and didn't realize until I was halfway through the install that it isn't supported for my OS, Windows Server 2003 Web Edition. I was able to get the installation to complete--with errors, while confirming that I wanted to install components that hadn't passed MS testing--and got everything but the scanner to work. But I really need the scanner to work!

I went two rounds with online chat techs at HP and they had no answers for me, saying that the Server 2003 platform simply isn't supported.

Following various KB articles, I tried installing SP1 for Win Server 2003, but couldn't get the SP to install either! (It quits without an error or anything.)

Does anybody have ANY clue how I can overcome this and get the scanner to work?

I can't imagine that installing SP1 would permit the scan function to work. Nonetheless, it IS strange that SP1 will not install. Are you able to re-install the OS and then try SP1 (immediately before doing anything else)?

Is it too late to return the OJ and get something that WILL play with W2K3?

I haven't tried the Business Support forum--thanks for that clue--but the HP people I've talked to so far say that they have NO AOI product that will play nice with Windows Server 2003! :-((
