OfficeJet 7140xi on Windows Server 2003 - WORKING
I just wanted to come back on to let everyone know I have resolved (or at least found a work around)the problems with installing the software and setting up this printer on Server 2003... I now have this printer working via a network with all functions including scanning... and all software installed and functioning...
Quiet simply I connected the printer directly using USB cable then ran the installation using the setup.exe nocheck from the run option in the start menu... I allowed the installation to complete and tested the printer worked..
This creates a printer, and printer ID folder in the folder C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\AiO\hp officejet 7100 series\1114209237 ( the number at the end is the printer ID.
Then I went to printer properties on the Ports tab and clicked 'Add Port' then 'New Port Type' and browsed to the file hpjsipm.inf in the folder \A14_07_04_enu_xp\Setup\Network\portmon\en in the list of available ports I could then select HP Standard TCP/IP Port and click 'New Port'... Now back at the Ports tab on printer properties I changed the port from the original DOT4_001 to the new port I had created. Click on 'Configure Port' and take a note of the 'Printer Name or IP Address' for me it was NPICB57D9 - this will be used to configure Director.
I then tested printing and all was fine. To get Director to work correctly I went back to the folder C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\AiO\hp officejet 7100 series\1114209237 ( the number at the end is the printer ID. then into the data subfolder and amended the 1114209237.ini lines identified below;
PortID=NPICB57D9
PortNum=1
PortType=3
And that was it... all working. I hope this works for you all.
