HPE and Cohesity partner to bring all-flash to data management

HPE and strategic software-defined storage partner Cohesity have introduced an All-Flash solution for Cohesity. This solution enables organizations to move data management to all-flash data centers using HPE Apollo and ProLiant Gen10 systems.

Enjoy the performance, TCO and sustainability benefits of all-flash

HPE and Cohesity_Aug-23_Blog_shutterstock_232805812.pngToday, many organizations are embracing all-flash technology, thanks to its superior performance and better economics. Thereโ€™s a growing desire in enterprises to โ€œfuture-proofโ€ their environment with all-flash technologies and address some of the new, more demanding workloads. This is supported by the continued narrowing of cost differential between flash-based solid-state disks (SSDs) and hard disk drives (HDDs). In addition, all-flash technologies deliver additional sustainability benefits to your data center with lower carbon emissions and lesser energy consumption due to reduced power and cooling than disk-based technologies. However, as customers embrace all-flash architecture, the problem of how to eliminate data silos and protect, manage, and derive insights from data, persists.

HPE is already at the forefront of transitioning our customers to all-flash infrastructure for their primary storage. We offer HPE StoreOnce and Cloud Volumes Backup to get application-aware backup and recovery with Recovery Manager Central that is built-in with HPE primary storage systems. We continue to invest in all-flash technologies to further transition our customersโ€™ other data and applications to all-flash, and we also believe in offering them a choice in scale-out backup and recovery solutions. To make this a reality we are announcing* today, an all-flash data management solution with our strategic software-defined storage partner, Cohesity. HPE, in partnership with Cohesity, already delivers a single data management platform on disk-based HPE servers for enterprises looking to reduce data fragmentation across backups, files/objects, archives, dev/test and analytics โ€“ essentially all non-latency sensitive workloads. The new HPE All-Flash solution for Cohesity uses the 1U ProLiant DL360 G10 NVMe Server with 10 small form factor (SFF) NVMe SSDs at multi-terabyte capacity points in a sleek design. This solution allows organizations to transition data management to all-flash data centers using the worldโ€™s most secure industry-standard server as the foundation.

HPE Solutions for Cohesity DataPlatform are built on the HPE Apollo and ProLiant Gen10 systems. HPE systems combine an ultra-dense and flexible architecture optimized for unstructured data with the ability to easily manage distributed data environments. Enterprises can now run diverse workloads including backup and recovery, file and object, dev/test and analytics on these solutions. The built-in holistic security provides rock-solid protection from any intrusions through the life of the infrastructure. Additionally, Cohesity softwareโ€™s enterprise-class security features such as immutable backups, encryption and machine-learning based anomaly detection protect your data against cyber security threats such as ransomware.

Cohesity is a leading provider of modern data management software for non-latency sensitive workloads. With this announcement, Cohesity introduces the new I/O Boost technology in the Cohesity DataPlatform for flash-optimized data management on HPE ProLiant DL360 G10 server.

  • Accelerates metadata-intensive operations such as dedupe, replication, backup, etc. for faster data protection and disaster recovery.
  • Enables seamless storage pool and parallel access for metadata and data for superior I/O performance.
  • Optimizes QoS policies, thresholds, and dynamic throttling of data management tasks for predictable performance across workloads.
  • Intelligently places data and metadata on flash for higher endurance and cost effectiveness

The HPE-Cohesity all-flash solution drives significant benefits to power your all-flash infrastructure:

  • High-speed, at ideal economics. Higher throughput and bandwidth capabilities of flash media combined with Cohesityโ€™s superior and proprietary space savings technologies mean even fewer licensed nodes required to meet performance and usable capacity needs, making all-flash more cost-effective than ever before.
  • Meet demanding SLAs. Accelerate workloads for significantly faster performance and meeting SLA demands with flash-optimized performance that speeds data management tasks including deduplication, replication and back-up of multi-terabytes of data.
  • Speedier time-to-value. Enable faster data reuse by leveraging your backup, file and object data to do dev/test, analytics as well as running Cohesity Marketplace apps for security and complianceโ€” all at flash speed.

As a final note, to make your experience seamless and agile, this combined solution is also offered as-a-service with  . GreenLake provides the added flexibility you require to adjust to the changing needs of your organization. You pay only for the capacity you use, and scale as you need more. As a result, you can enjoy a cloud-like experience in your data center, simplifying operations and giving you financial flexibility so you can free-up capital for innovation.

In summary, the joint solution offers incredibly fast performance, greater data consolidation and lower total cost of ownership (TCO) allowing you to eliminate data silos and derive insights from data in all-flash environments.

And, to offer the broadest choice of industry leading unstructured data solutions to meet your requirements, HPE also partners with Qumulo to offer a modern scale-out NAS for performance file workloads, and with Scality to offer massively scalable multi-cloud unstructured data stores.
