Configure IDLE fill pattern to 8 GB

Hi Team,

I'm using Cisco Nexus 9000, and want to connect my HPE HF60 directly to it.

I can't do it with 8GB SFP, but with 4GB, It's working.

I saw this Cisco BUG : https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvm09149

And it claimes :

Configure the IDLE fill pattern on the end device to operate the FC link at 8 Gbps.

Already did it on the Nexus side.

Is there a way I can do it from the Nimble OS ?

Thanks in advance

Re: Configure IDLE fill pattern to 8 GB

Hi

Am afraid to say that, This is not tunable on the array side. Nimble ports are hard-coded to auto-negotiate.
To push them to 4Gb, set the switch ports to 4Gb.

Hope this helps.!!

Re: Configure IDLE fill pattern to 8 GB

Hi, and thanks for your reply

We did connected 4GB from the Nexus side, and it's working

With 8GB it's not working.......... probably because of the Cisco BUG.....

Do this array supports 16GB ??

If so, we'll be able to connect 16 GB SFPs on our Nexus

Re: Configure IDLE fill pattern to 8 GB

Hi,
The Nimble ports are hard coded to auto-negotiate. In order to force them to 4Gb you will need to set the switch ports to 4Gb.

There are no commands or options to make this change on the array.

Re: Configure IDLE fill pattern to 8 GB

HF60 model do support 16Gb FC, and 32Gb FC cards.
Q8C03B || HPE Nimble Storage 2x16Gb Fibre Channel 4-port FIO Adapter Kit - needs to be purchased to use the array for 16Gb.

The following minimum ports are recommended for best performance:
ο HF20: at least 2-ports
ο HF40: at least 4-ports
ο HF60: at least 8-ports
− All 10GbE, 25GbE, 16Gb FC, and 32Gb FC cards include SFP optical transceivers
