Securing cloud native applications for HPE GreenLake: Unified API Protection
Rapid development and deployment of APIs by various teams have led to a โWild Westโ of API endpoints โ difficult to track, and even more difficult to secure. Cequence Unified API Protection (UAP) platform is an API security solution that can discover API vulnerabilities, addressing security risks and actively defending against API-based attacks.
Guest post by Arun Gowda, VP Business Development, Cequence Security
In the digital age, APIs are the lifeblood of businesses, bridging the gap between the services they offer and the customers they serve. From internet shopping to mobile apps, APIs are the silent workhorses behind our seamless digital experiences. But with great connectivity comes great risk. APIs, often operating without adequate oversight, have emerged as a prime target for cyber-attacks. The statistics are sobering โ 53% of organizations suffer multiple API attacks each month, with a predicted doubling of API-related data breaches by 2025.
At the heart of digital age is the move to cloud native applications, which are composed of microservices-based applications that are connected via APIs and managed by an agile, more iterative development methodology. The growth in microservices deployment continues unabated, across all deployment locations โ both private and public cloud. A survey done by The Software House found that 34% of the 600+ organizations queried were using microservices in their data centers, second only to AWS (49%) in terms of deployment locations with Azure and GCP both at 17%.
The API Security Conundrum
Rapid development and deployment of APIs by various teams have led to a โWild Westโ of API endpoints โ difficult to track, and even more difficult to secure. Vulnerabilities are not just probable; they're inevitable. Security leaders find themselves grappling with critical questions:
- How extensive is my API landscape?
- What risks do these APIs introduce?
- Are my APIs currently under attack?
Answering these questions is vital to fortify your digital defenses, especially for workloads running on HPE GreenLake, which is a platform optimized for private cloud deployments in customer data centers.
A Shield for HPE GreenLake: Cequence Unified API Protection
While API security is an integral component of Unified API Protection, the latter takes a more comprehensive approach. Unified API Protection considers all aspects that could affect the usability, reliability, and performance of APIs. Organizations need to focus on API security as part of a broader API protection strategy when developing and managing APIs to ensure they deliver their intended functionality securely, reliably, and efficiently.
Enter the Cequence Unified API Protection (UAP) platform โ the guardian in the shadows. It's the only API security solution that tackles the above core concerns head-on. From unearthing hidden APIs to addressing security risks and actively defending against API-based attacks, Cequence UAP offers end-to-end protection. It's an all-seeing eye over the API landscape, ensuring compliance and shielding your HPE GreenLake workload digital interactions from the ever-present cyber threats.
