Re: Multicast in E5406zl and E2610 switches
Hi,
it depends on which layer do you want to use multicast on these switches. E5406zl can handle multicast at L3 by configuring PIM protocol (Sparse or Dense mode). If you have older chassis, you have to have premium license installed or if you have buy this chassis recently it will probably have premium license in base. Both E5406zl and E2610 can handle multicast at L2 by configuring "ip igmp" in vlan context.

Jan

If the multicast is between 2 VLANs then you will need to use multicast routing (PIM) and you will need premium license on the 5406zl switch for that.

If the multicast is in the same VLAN (source and destination) then you will only need to enable "IGMP" under that VLAN in all the switches that will participate in the multicast delivery, use the command "ip igmp" under the vlan context.
