Setting up Original Proliant Storage System
I have a chance top get an Original Proliant Storage System for free and was think of setting it up at home for storage, no raid, nothing fancy, just plain old scsi. Can I connect it to the Adaptec AHA2940AU I already have or do I have to use a Compaq SCSI Controller? Please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Setting up Original Proliant Storage System
It's not supported by Compaq that way, but that doesn't mean it won't work... I honestly can't answer the question. So long as there are already some (free) drives in it, there's no harm in trying.

Re: Setting up Original Proliant Storage System
Yeah, you can hook the original storage unit (as well as any F1/F2 or U1/U2) to any SCSI host controller.
I'm currently running an original storage unit off an old desktop with just an Adaptec controller, and I used to have an F1 and a U1 doing the same thing. The F2/U2 would work in theory, provided you have 2 controllers to hook up to the duplex unit.
