Error updating esxi to 6.7EP16

I'm updating the simplivity hosts from 6.5 to 6.7 by using the HPE Simplivity customized offline patch bundle.

When I ran the command

esxcli software profile update -p HPE-ESXi-6.7.0-Update3-Gen9plus-670.U3.10.6.0.83-customized -d /vmfs/volumes/SG-BU-SVT-DS01/Upgrade/Q8A57-11113_hpe-esxi6.7u3ep16-16773714-670.U3.10.6.0.83-offline-bundle.zip

I got the error

"no space on device".

After several tries, I followed the vmware KBs, I found that I was able to update to 6.7U3 with the following simplivity customized offline patch bundle.

esxcli software profile update -p HPE-ESXi-6.7.0-Update3-Gen9plus-670.U3.10.5.5.25-customized -d /vmfs/volumes/SG-BU-SVT-DS01/Upgrade/Q8A57-11098_hpe-esxi6.7u3p01-15160138-670.U3.10.5.5.25-offline-bundle.zip

But after that I still cannot update to the latest patch bundle because of the error " no space on device"

What should I look for in the second link pointing at the RN ?

Also trying to update from 6.5 to 6.7 U3P01 I got the following error

VIB HPE_bootbank_conrep_650.10.6.0.21-6.5.0.2494585 requires esx-version << 6.7.0, but the requirement cannot be satisfied within the ImageProfile.

I believe you must have already checked if there is enough space in the volume where you are looking to install the patch.

If there is space constraint, you can try running dry run commands to check for vibs which can be removed?

If the node is Gen10 node, then you can remove smx provider VIB along with few other VIBs which are not required.

Eventually I was able to update the hosts by removing an EMC vib and install it after upgrading esxi
