DL380 and NC7131 Gigabit

On the older DL380's (not the G2), where is the best place (slots) to put two of the NC7131 Gigabit cards.

Re: DL380 and NC7131 Gigabit

from looking at the server looks like slot 2,3,and 4 are all 64bit so I would use any of those.. I prefer 2 and 3 just in case I need to add another card in the future and dont have to dig to deep later.

Re: DL380 and NC7131 Gigabit

The key thing to remember is that these cards guzzle PCI bandwidth. If you have two cards and expect to use both cards simultaneously for different traffic then you must try to put them on different PCI buses (always assuming you've got 64-bit slots to work with). If you're installing a teamed pair, for resilience, then only one card works at a time, then you want the cards on the *same* PCI bus, and everything else (array controller, SCSI controller(s) on other PCI buses.

Fault tolerance is how I'm setting up all our servers (different switches). Thanks ALL for the help. Answered my questions.
