I have a Proliant DL180 G5 mainboard and i istalled a Quadro Fx550 in the 8x pcie slot. (this is an old dx9 pcie1.1 card that support win8)
When the server starts no video output on the addon video card, just on the integrated.
I want to use this server as a workstation, with win8.1/10. The inegrated Matrox G200 is useless for a graphical environment.
In windows there is an error in device managger in pcie port: Code 12: This device cannot find enough free resources
I started disabling unused pcie ports whitout succes.
The only thing that works is to remove almost all ram, with 2x1Gb the card works fine.
I tryed a few older bioses, the other 8x slot, nothing works just the lower amount ram.
So i think i must set the resources manually, but i dont know how.
The next step, i want to install a Pcie3.0 Card (Geforce 750ti).
sorry for my english
Thanks for the answers!

Re: HP Proliant DL180 G5 Pcie video card not working 2Gb+RAM
Hi,
Restart the server, press key F10 to run the ROM-Based Setup Utility. Under "Advanced > PCI Configuration > Embedded VGA Control" Set it to PCI VGA card.
Further you may access "PCI Express Configuration > PCI Express Gen2> Force Gen1"
Hope this helps you with the issue.
Regards,
Vijayasarathy

Re: HP Proliant DL180 G5 Pcie video card not working 2Gb+RAM
There are no VGA control in bios.
And no pcie settings. The mainboard support only 1.1 Pcie.

Re: HP Proliant DL180 G5 Pcie video card not working 2Gb+RAM
Does not matter. I have a 8x to 16x riser. It works in other pc. And the card works with 2gb ram installed.

Re: HP Proliant DL180 G5 Pcie video card not working 2Gb+RAM
Half solved!
It works with 1.1 pcie cards. (Quadro Fx550, Ati x2400xt, Ati X300Le)
The sollution was this:
I have windows 8.1 x64 currently. All cards works in pcie 1.1 8x mode fine!
But it not works with my new card: Geforce 750ti Pcie 3.0
The probleme is the card not apearing in the device managger.

SolutionFully SOLVED!
I insert an old pcie 1.0 card in the botom 4x slot (Ati X300), so that is disabled the integrated G200. Then i insterted the Pcie 3.0 card to the top 8x slot. In windows i disabled the unused pcie root ports. The pcie3.0 card works, the inegrated and the old 1.0 card have error code 12 but i disabled them.
So it is possible to use 3.0 card in 1.1 Slot in proliant DL 180 G5!!!
It run 3dmark11 fine, the scores are normal average for the card, the pcie8x mode not limit the card performance.
