Proliant DL580, Smart Array 5300 Controller Failure!
I am running Windows Server 2003 on a Proliant DL580. Yesterday, the system blue screened and when I went to restart it came up with this message, "1783-slot x Drive Array Controller Failure!"
I shut it down, inspected the PCI card and booted again. The system loaded just fine until about 15 minutes later it blue screened again. The blue screen read..
KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
STOP: 0x0000007A (0xE16D3CDC,0xC000000E,0x0026C860)
I overnighted a replacement 5300 controller and installed it this morning only to have the same "1783-Slot x Drive Array Controller Failure! [Command failure (cmd=11h, err=020d, dlu=0f00f:413Fh)]"
I did use the SmartStart cd and made sure the system knew the new card was installed.
A few times a message posts that the controller array accelerator battery charge is low
Could the Drive Array Controller Failure be caused by the controller battery not fully charged? Or is this a bad controller card?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Proliant DL580, Smart Array 5300 Controller Failure!
Hey Matt!
Error:
1783-Slot x Drive Array Controller Failure
Probable Source of problem:
ROM installation problem or array accelerator board problem. If this message appears immediately following a ROM installation, the
ROM is defective or not installed properly.
Check to see if:
1) The array accelerator board is attached properly.
2) The array controller is firmly inserted in its slot.
3) If error recurs, upgrade the System ROMs. Otherwise, replace the Smart Array Controller.
Refer:

Cheers !
James.
