We currently have a ML-350 Server running 3x 36gb scsi Hot swap drives in raid 5 config, and we recently bought 2x 146gb HS scsi drives to fill two of the 3 remaining slots in the server.
We want the new 146gb drives in a separate raid 1 config this will contain all our file storage while the 3x 36gb drives are for the O/S and additional file storage.
My main question is what will we have to do to install these drives in the server.
Listed below is the servers SCSI system imfo if ti helps...

Re: Upgrading Prolient ML-350 G3 with Extra Storage
quite simple and quick.
As always it is a good idea to have a full backup before making any major changes like this to a server.
P.s. please be kind and assign points to those helping you out.

SolutionYes it should be very easy. The three drives will be attached to the Smart Array 641 controller. This will have a single array assigned already (Array A - Raid 5). You can install the new drives and create a new array (Array B) as RAID 1+0 (HP's name for RAID1). To achieve this you need to run the Array Configuration Utility (ACU) which runs on all smart Array controllers.
It can be run from the controller using an inbuilt feature called ORCA but it may be easier for you to achieve this from the operating system side if you are unfamiliar with Smart Array controllers.
ACU may already be installed. Start-Programs-HP System Tools- Array Configuration Utility. If not, download it from here (Assuming you have Windows 2000/2003 installed).
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/26996.html
Enter the utility and create the new array.
Here is a link to the ACU User Guide. Check how to create the new array first.

If you need any ML350 G3 documentation or driver update or BIOS go here and use the various links.

I hope this helps.

Re: Upgrading Prolient ML-350 G3 with Extra Storage
The ACU User Guide link appears to be duff.
Try this one.
