I read this in documentation:
Receive pre-failure alert's with HP SIM. When drives installed in a MDS600 are used in conjunction with a SMART Array Controller and Systems Insight Manager, the SMART capable firmware in HP hard drives enables extensive fault prediction capabilities.
Does anyone out there monitor their c7000 blades, servers and their HP MDS600 arrays through SIM? I have gone through all the documents, release notes, etc and find nothing that will tell me how to use the SMART Array Controller to report pre-failure alerts. I thought the disk array forum might give me better response from people that actually use the MDS600.

Alice
Solved! Go to Solution.
I responded to your other post as well, but in a nutshell --
Install HP management agents on servers connected to MDS
Discover servers in SIM
Wait for hardware event to occur (failed drive)
Storage Agent on server sends trap to SIM
SIM opens support case with HP via Remote Support Advanced
HP verifies via phone call/email that event was legit
HP ships replacement drive or sends technician
Failed drive is replaced and controller rebuilds logical drive (RAID)
Everyone hi-fives that monitoring & alerting works as expected
kind regards,
