Secure Path 3.0D SP1 for Solaris 10 on T2000 ??
We have a loaner T2000 in for Oracle testing. We need to attach to an older EVA5000 that only supports SecurePath for multipathing. The release notes for SP3.0Dsp1 explicitly state that it is for Sun4U architecture only. The T2000 is in the Sun4V family.
Any chance this will install and really work ?? If so, which HBAs should I be using with this box ??
thanks,
Don M.

Re: Secure Path 3.0D SP1 for Solaris 10 on T2000 ??
Hi Don
The EVA5000 with Firmware VCS3.xxx presents LUNs active/passive an requires Securepath for multipathing. The only HBA that is supported by HP for Solaris 10, EVA5000 at VCS3.xxx is the HP FCA2257P.
Unfortunately the FCA2257P is a full height HBA and you can only fit half height HBAs in the T2000 server.
However, you can upgrade the EVA5000 to VCS4.007 which will then present LUNs active/active and does not require Securepath anymore.
You can then either use Solaris MPxIO or Symantec DMP for multipathing.
HBA wise you can use most of the common Emulex or Qlogic that fit the T2000.
Find further info like HBA support etc here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00898541/c00898541.pdf
Carefully plan the VXC3.xxx to VCs4.007 upgrade because it will impact all attached serevers!!
I would log a call and let HP do the upgrade for you.
Cheers
Peter

Re: Secure Path 3.0D SP1 for Solaris 10 on T2000 ??
You won't be able to attach your SUN T1000/T2000 to the EVA3000/5000 since Secure Path on Solaris 10 is only supported with the FCA2257P HBA, options are:
- Upgrade your EVA3000 to VCS4.041
- Use local storage oran active/active storage array.
- Buy an iScsi router for your EVA3000 from which you can present your disks to the T2000.
