Team,
What is the license policy on the HP C/C++ compiler for Itanium? Is it installable per system OR a fixed number of systems?
So, is it possible to purchase the compiler separately and if it is - is it possible to install on multiple systems(having the version that the compiler is certified for)?
I came across this link - https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayInstallInfo.do?productNumber=B9007AAEVAL. I believe this link is specifically for activating an evaulation copy.
My understanding is: When you buy a license for any HP-UX software (the aC/C++ compiler, Online JFS, Mirror Disk, Fortran, whatever else) you are buying it for a single server. Most software licensing is based on the number of cores / CPUs in a system. So, if you buy C++ for a 2-core system, and you then install it on a 8-core system, you are technically taking money from HP.
>is it possible to purchase the compiler separately
Yes, see: (you may also want to purchase suport for it.)
But for some reason the link to purchase it seems to be dead??
>is it possible to install on multiple systems
Yes, as Patrick said, provided you purchase the licence for every socket.
>Most software licensing is based on the number of cores / CPUs in a system.
I thought they switched to per socket, when quad cores came out.
