how to reset HP System management login password

I am unable to login to the hompage of hp system managemnt software using the administrator username/password. how can i reset this?
running sbs 2003 with hp system management soft ver 2.1.2.127

Hello Michael,

R u talking about HP SIM 5.1 ?
Then:
1. Stop HP SIM.
2. Access the Services control panel and edit the service credentials to provide the new password for the
HP Systems Insight Manager service.
3. Run mxpassword -g and modify the following password:MxHPSIMServicePassword
4. Restart HP SIM.

In Case you are talking about Insight Manager 7, then I think, It uses the Windows login username & password.

Hi,

i think Michael means the System Management Homepage and yes, it uses the Windows Administrator login username & password. If server is part of a domain, you have to login with \domainname\user

You can try to create additional windows account and add that account to the administrators group in windows too.

That is only in case PSP 7.20 and later is installed (SMH uses OS based authentication)

yes you must use domainname\user otherwise you are unable to login with just admin name and password. thanks for your help.
