I recently upgraded - via cold installation - our production box from HP-UX 10 to 11. Everything is running and functioning but when I run a vgdisplay on the volume groups that are comprised of more than one pair of disks, the last disk listed under physical volumes consistently show 2 free PE. Please explain?

Re: LVM and mirroring in HP-UX 11
Hi Dallas:
Remember that mirroring involves mirrors of *logical volumes*, NOT physical disk.
Regards!

Re: LVM and mirroring in HP-UX 11
The PE size of your can be set for every LVM volume group independently during VG creation. It can be set to 1, 2, 4, 8, ...MB
You can check the actual PE size with the vgdisplay command:
>vgdisplay vg00
--- Volume groups ---
VG Name /dev/vg00
VG Write Access read/write
VG Status available
Max LV 255
Cur LV 9
Open LV 9
Max PV 16
Cur PV 1
Act PV 1
Max PE per PV 2500
VGDA 2
PE Size (Mbytes) 4
...
good luck
