Better backup system

I have been using HP Colorado Backup but even after cleaning with a tape, The backup quit e working - first selecting and then returning to the start screen. So, since I cannot get it to work, can someone recommend perhaps a better backup system than the one I am using which is not too expensive? This is for my home computer.

I use a HP CD-RW with RW media. I keep two sets of media and do a full backup once a week. Every night I backup just the email directory.

If the system is stable and you don't do many changes you can do the full backup only when you make a change.
