Automatically update blade ilo with hostname if it changes
Okay, we have a changing environment.
We could have a windows server on a blade today, and reload it with RHEL tonight and give it a new hostname.
If this happens, is there a way to automate the update of the blade ilo and the OA to reflect the new name?
It appears that the HP-UX, VMware, and Windows operating systems already do this but, the RHEL OS doesn't.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Automatically update blade ilo with hostname if it changes
The Server name is populated down into the iLO via the SNMP Agents or CIM Providers depending on the OS.
If you are not running the HP Mgmt Agents in RHEL, the name will not auto populate.
You can however use the HPONCFG binary we offer along with an XML script to set the "Hostname" field manually.
This only requires the iLO driver be running and its been included in RHEL since somewhere around 5.4 or 5.5 I think.
Then you could automate this by having a script grab the hostname, build the XML file using said hostname, and run the hponcfg binary against the newly generated XML script to effectively automate the name update. Have this script run slightly after each boot and you would never need to manually set the name again.
Towards the bottom of the links on the right side of the page is "HP iLO Sample Scripts"
Set_Server_Name.xml is the script you need.
