24-port 10Gb RJ45 based switch

There are few models such as A5820, A5920 and A5900 series switches have a higher 10Gb port density, but none of them support RJ45 Copper Media.  Is there any model either E or A where I could have 24-port 10gb Switch with RJ45 Transceivers.

Thanks

@aali...

According to HP's switch selector tool, if you specify 24 ports & 10GB as the predominant port type, only two switches are suggested, but both provide 24 x SFP+ slots, each of which would need a transceiver.

5820-24XG-SFP+ (JC102A)

Re: 24-port 10Gb RJ45 based switch

Currently the 5400zl and 8200zl modular families support 8 port 10G RJ45 modules.

Both switch families have limited lifetime warranty, the big difference is that the 5400zl family does not need a fabric module, while the 8200zl has redundant fabric modules. This means that the 8200zl is also has a little more bandwidth per slot.

Hope this helps,

FYI: There are 24Port 10GBase-T planned. I know, that will not help you at the moment.

Re: 24-port 10Gb RJ45 based switch

I just setup my A5820-24XG with two 5800-48G-POE switches.  IRF was not bad to configure.  I am using Add-on DAC cables to connect them together.  My servers will have NC522SFP+ 10 Gbps dual connect NICs for the transitition to the C7000 Blade Center with dual Flex-10 modules.  So far, it has been a good experience.

Re: 24-port 10Gb RJ45 based switch

Part of the reason you can't get 10 Gbps RJ45 switches is cost of cabling.  You would need CAT 6A or 7 cabling for 10 Gbps.   Patch cables would be more than the cost of fiber.   5820 can use DAC cables + transcieivers up to 5 meters, officially.  I have seen a company that can do 50 meter DAC cables.  They are much heavier and expernsive.

Re: 24-port 10Gb RJ45 based switch

So the 5406 would be able to provide the requested 24 ports.

Keep in mind though, that in this chassis each module has a single backplane-connection of only 14Gbps. A heavy oversubscription to consider, depending on your topology.

 Any news about that one?

Re: 24-port 10Gb RJ45 based switch

Any news about a 24-port or 48-port 10Gbe RJ45 switch? Are there any rumors whether that one will be "Procurve" or "Comware" based?

You can use the HPE Switch Selector:

http://h17007.www1.hpe.com/de/de/networking/products/switches/switch-selector.aspx

There is f.e. the HPE FlexFabric 5700-32XGT-8XG-2QSFP+ Switch (JG898A)

(32) RJ-45 1/10GBASE-T
(8) 1000/10000 SFP+
(2) QSFP+
