RH 2.1 memory limitation

RH 2.1 memory limitation

Dear Gurus outthere..

I have installed 8 GB memory on a DL580 G2, running Red Hat 2.1. The BIOS detetcted 8GB memeory, however the Linux OS only detected 4GB . Can anyone help solve this problem.

You need to be running the '-enterprise' series kernel to be able to utilize greater than 4GB of memory on RH2.1.

If you 'rpm -qa "kernel*"', you'll see which kernels are currently installed.

You may need to get a new copy of the kernel from the RH media, or using 'up2date' to get the latest eratta kernel.
