command to access standard linux gui
Greetings all,
New to linux, have established a connection to linux server using reflectionX, what is the command that brings up the standard linux gui, the one that has the redhat in the lower right hand corner.
Thank you

Re: command to access standard linux gui
The usual method to start the gui fron a console on most linux is
startx
this should triger the gui
note this will start the default Window manager this could be kde, gnome, "bluecurve".
You can change this using the command
switchdesk
Have fun

Re: command to access standard linux gui
You may need to run xconfigurator first so that X knows what kind of monitor and other relavent hardware you have.
