Update Reference Support Pack for Multiple Hosts VCA in SIM 5.2

I'm having a tough time tracking down exactly which part of SIM I can use to update the reference support pack in multiple hosts from SIM 5.2.

I've read the docs and help files and they all seem to miss the mark. With them I've managed to install VCA, to configure parts of it that I don't care about (eg the SIM server, as it's already set properly), to update things other than the VCA in the systems management home page etc.

I just want to change the reference support pack so SIM 5.2 will show their software status as green not the orange triangle and without logging into over 100 servers one by one.

You'll need to break it down by OS as they use a different xml file to control the baseline.
Then from HPSIM go to Configure ->Replicate Agent settings, select the server whose config you want to replicate and then expand the VCA section and drill down to the Reference Support Pack.
That will indicate an xml file that is the baseline.
Replicate to all the servers in the group you select.

Thanks for the assistance Rob. This is part of the problem I'm having. I'm not seeing any settings re VCA to change using the menu references you mentioned.

I've tried the other menu choice of configure->configure or repair agents and going that route I see options to install or modify the VCA but nothing to tell it which support pack I want to use.

Thus I'm still stuck.

Peter Turek,

You need to Configure atleast one VCA manually,

Steps to configure as follows,
1) open System Management Homepage (shortcut will be present in Desktop)
2) click on VCA, VCA home page opens
3) click on Change Agent settings -> configure it to a VCRM -> select a reference support pack -> Click Finish.

Once it is done, Open SIM page and select above configured system as source for "Replicate Agent settings" task, you should be seeing VCA settings that you applied.

if you are still not seeing any VCA settings from that configured system, try rediscovering or run software status polling on the configured system from HPSIM.

Thanks Logapriyan and Rob- you were both right but Logapriyan you nailed it re the need to manually and successfully configure a similar host otherwise the option to replicate the VCA *won't even show up in the "replicate agent settings" menu choices*.

That was the part that is *not* in the HP SIM instructions I read.

In the VCA when I go into Change Settings, there is no reference support pack displayed, but in VCRM I have valid support packs listed.

Any Ideas?
