Configuring Itanium disks

The procedure for Itanium Disks is much different from the regular PA-RISC machines.

Is there a guideline for using LVM on Itanium disks?

Re: Configuring Itanium disks

The link from Pete is a good one, but I like this more:

http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000082066576

The difference is the third partition for HP-utilities.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Configuring Itanium disks

The first one says to creat /tmp/partition file:

2
EFI 100MB
HPUX 100%

The second one says to create it like this:

3
EFI 500MB
HPUX 100%
HPSP 400MB

What's the difference?

But what does it mean, and do I need it?

Re: Configuring Itanium disks

The third partition (SP = service partition) is used for Offline Diagnostics installation.

Several checks can be done with this software. It's also a good idea to create a larger first partition (500MB instead of only 100 MB), to prevent space promblems later, bacause the number of EFI utilities is growing.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
