SolutionThe easiest way I see is to look at the existence of oracle executable in $ORACLE_HOME/bin
If you have oracle, then it's server. If you don't you've got client.

install the oracle on an ignite image server.
make a golden image.
Replicate that image to other servers.
I have done that three times with oracle and ias.
It works, though some post configuration work is required after the image,
