Error accessing routes DataBase

Good morning all,
I'm in trouble with an RX3600 with OpenVMS 8.3-1H1. I can't access ANYMORE to routes database.

Each time I performt SHO ROUTE in TCPIP enviroment I got:

%TCPIP-E-ROUTEERROR, error accessing routes database (TCPIP$ROUTE)

Please help, I'm driving crazy, because till last week all working fine. I reboot the two nodes in cluster, but still not work... What's happen ??

Thanks!
./ Lucas

Re: Error accessing routes DataBase

Hi smsc

Does the route databse exist? (Dir tcpip$route)
How is the protection of tcpip$route ?
Is there an additional error message ?

Regards

Re: Error accessing routes DataBase

Ok I report more information.
First of all I got the error message when I Issue SHOW ROUTE command.

But if first I use:

SHOW ROUTE /PERM = it works

then

SHOW ROUTE = it works

So, first I need to show permanent route, then I can see static route, very very strange!!!!!

This is the log from following command:

SHOW ROUTE = Error
SHOW ROUTE/PERM = OK
SHO ROUTE = OK

TCPIP> sho route

Re: Error accessing routes DataBase

Ops! thanks for reply Heinz, I see your post after mine.

As reported all ROUTE are configured and working till last week, I don't know what happen on the system during last days....

Btw, TCPIP$ROUTE still exists, I just delete it this morning and created a new one just for try:

SE71:SYSTEM> dir TCPIP$ROUTE.DAT /date /size /prot

TCPIP$ROUTE.DAT;1 112 30-OCT-2008 10:54:53.81 (RWED,RWED,RE,RE)

Re: Error accessing routes DataBase

smsc,

do you have tcpip$inet_host defined ?

Re: Error accessing routes DataBase

smsc,

or tcpip$inet_domain , can't remember which of these missing can cause this ! :-)

Re: Error accessing routes DataBase

No way....
Seems TCPIP$ROUTE and TCPIP$HOST files are corrupted for unknown reason.

I deleted it and created a new one (need again to reconfigure all routes/hosts)...

Now it works again....

Re: Error accessing routes DataBase

While I would most definitely not rule out a random and (usually) isolated disk data file corruption that was triggered by a weirdness within TCP/IP Services itself, do also check for disk and hardware errors.

And as usual, load up the current ECO kits as these are known to remediate all manner of weirdnesses elsewhere in the application environment.

Re: Error accessing routes DataBase

smsc,

you should at least have the tcpip$inet_host logical name defined at tcpip startup which will be the host name and would match an entry in the host table.
