Re: How to move a T64 4.0F boot disk to another SCSI controller?

We can copy the rz0a & rz0g partiotions to ri1a & ri1g. vdump reports 100% completed. Still can't boot from ri1. This may be a stupid question but is it possible to boot from a rix device? The disk works great as long as you don't try and use it as a boot device.

You can not boot at all or you can not boot multiuser mode?
Did you create boot block and edit fstab file?

Can not boot at all. Changed the fstab file and used diskconfig to partition and set the type to advfs. How should we create the boot block?

Re: How to move a T64 4.0F boot disk to another SCSI controller?

You create boot block when labeling disk.
# disklabel -t advfs -rw ......
You can set it using graphics disk configurator (choose Boot Block=AdvFS).
You can also try this example:
# disklabel -r /dev/rre0c > /tmp/diskr0.label
# disklabel -z /dev/rre0c
# disklabel -Rr -t advfs /dev/rre0c /tmp/diskr0.label

You did not create advfs boot block when did disklabel, that is why you can not boot.
The fastest way is to set it by graphics diskconfig.
