Problem during installation Unix Compact Tru64 UNIX V5.1

Hello,

I have server DS20E and I want to install tru64 Unix Compaq Tru64 UNIX V5.1.

Recently the server was working fine, but there was a RAM failure and we replaced it with a new one.

I started to boot from CDROM and go ahead with instillation,but the instillation stopped in the middle

and went to prompt console and gives me some errors like the following :-

- device translate: device cannot be translated scsi 1 7 0 0 0 0 0

- cp-save_term exited with hlt_req=1r0= 000000.0000000

- prom_getenv: unable to convert scsi 1 7 0 0 0 0 0

- cdisk_ioctl: xpt_Get_log failed

I don't know that because of the new RAM or some configurations need to be done in order to go ahead in the instillation.

Hello,

Check to see if any *dev* variable is incorrectly set.

>>>show *

Note or dump the most important values if needed.

And try the following and test to boot CD:

>>> set bootdef_dev ""

( >>> set dump_dev "" )

>>> init
>>> boot dkXXXX

I have done whatever you told me about, and the following errors are solved :-

- cdisk_ioctl: xpt_Get_log failed

after I started to boot from CDROM and go ahead with instillation,the instillation stopped suddenly in the middle

and went to prompt console and gives the following error:-

- cp-save_term exited with hlt_req=1r0= 000000.0000000

The provided error does not give me a chance to dignosse the problem.

how can I get more details about what going on during the installation?

please could you help me.

Hello,

The last only message you reported( i.e. cp-save_term exited with hlt_req) is not enough to have an opinion.

I suppose that some other error messages were logged too like HALT code, panic, Machine check etc....

So the full footprint may help. ( may be a hardware issue  or a compatibility issue )
